Community Eligibility Provision [CEP]

Schriever Elementary will be participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision [CEP] for School Year 2022-23.

All enrolled students will be eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2022-23 school year. No further action is required of you. Children will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.

Due to rules from the State of Louisiana regarding foods that can be sold and served at school, all foods donated, served, or sold for snacks and celebrations must meet the requirements for a safe and healthy school.

The requirement for safe and healthy snacks are:

  • 150 calories or less;
  • 35% of total calories from fat or less;
  • 10% of total calories from saturated fat or less;
  • 0% trans fat;
  • 30 g of sugars or less (not more than 35% of weight);
  • 200 mg of sodium per serving

For parents, this means that any foods donated for birthdays or other celebrations will have to meet these requirements or students will not be able to eat them during the school day.
